Blogger was started by a tiny company in San Francisco called Pyra Labs in August of 1999. This was in the midst of the dot-com boom. But we weren't exactly a VC-funded, party-throwing, foosball-in-the-lobby-playing, free-beer-drinking outfit. (Unless it was other people's free beer.)
Blogger took off, in a small way, and eventually a bigger way, over a couple years. We raised a little money (but stayed small). And then the bust happened, and we ran out of money, and our fun little journey got less fun. We narrowly survived, not all in one piece, but kept the service going the whole time (most days) and started building it back up. Things were going well again in 2002. We had hundreds of thousands of users, though still just a few people. And then something no one expected happened: Google wanted to buy us. Yes, that Google We liked Google a lot. And they liked blogs. So we were amenable to the idea. And it worked out nicely. Now we're a small (but slightly bigger than before) team in Google focusing on helping people have their own voice on the web and organizing the world's information from the personal perspective. Which has pretty much always been our whole deal. |

Sound: http://www.wonderlandrecords.com/ex/hobs-gad.mp3 Swedish indie label Wonderland Records present electronic indie rock act Hearts of Black Science and offers free listening to the full album as well as free download of the single Gold & Dust. Hearts of Black Science, based in Swedish Stenungsund (just outside Gothenburg) is Daniel Anghede and Tomas Almgren and they bring you powerful, suggestive indie rock with electronic influences. Think Danish Mew mixed with Keane and Depeche Mode but with a distinct personal touch. The debut album was released on reknowned UK indie label AC30 and they did two shorter UK tours back in 06/07. Among the highlights of the tour were two live shows in the BBC6 studio in London. Their new material is released on Swedish Wonderland Records, home of acts like Emmon, Convoj and Universal Poplab. RAP ARTIST BEEZY'S "MY J'S" PREMIERES ON MUSICDISHTV NOVEMBER 4TH
Journal
posted by musicdish 2 wks ago
Url: http://www.myspace.com/beezy1000 Beezy (aka BZ), a young rap artist from the southeast, has already been slated by many as the next teenage rap sensation. His current single "My J's" (aptly named after the popular shoes branded after Michael Jordan) is spreading through the southeast like wildfire, and will premiere on MusicDishTV on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. The popularity of the shoes coupled with the song and the raw, but somewhat comical video has started to create quite a buzz for the young 17-year-old artist. Beezy is by no means your run of the mill artist. His look, vocals and writing skills set him apart from most rap artists his age, as well as some who are older. He is currently working on a project entitled "Beezy World" which is full of slamming, energetic beats laced with real lyrical skill, style and |

Song of the Day - Taio Cruz

Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart ---------------Third time's a charm - an expression that wills people to be patient, continue searching or keep flared tempers at bay for at least another try. Such was the case as I perused the U.K. charts this morning, when I found a bitter taste in my mouth from the first couple of pop morsels tasted. Taio Cruz's dance club ode of honesty "Break Your Heart" was the sweet surprise of the charts. You may not have heard of U.K. R&B singer-songwriter Taio Cruz, but when you hear "Break Your Heart," you'll agree that his music is the missing child of pop radio who just wants to hang out with siblings like Akon, Ne-Yo, and Sean Kingston. Get "Break Your Heart" from Taio Cruz sophomore album, Rockstarr.

Brian Kelly Afterplay album eligible for Grammy
Journal
posted by briankellymusic 1 mo ago
My Afterplay album is eligible for Grammy Award consideration. The Recording Academy considers my Instrumental Album to be more "Pop" than Jazz, in league with artists such as Spyro Gyra, Boney James, Chris Botti... Recording Academy rules prohibit me from specifying which category it is listed in (field and category names and numbers are proprietary). Without a doubt, this is the proudest moment of our career. After 3 years of waiting, our new album Wake Up the Sleepers is finally here. Wake Up the Sleepers is our deepest, most ambitious album. We had a renewed sense of fearlessness and freedom during the writing and recording process that we haven't felt since our independent DIY days in Chicago. We took a lot of chances, because this is the album that we want to be remembered by. Wake Up the Sleepers is our statement of defiance against those in the music industry who have been sleeping. Those who have been drifting in a comfortable slumber of OLD methods, OLD business models, OLD routines, OLD bullshit. The music industry is in a state of collapse because it is utterly out of touch with what truly matters to the fans. Kill Hannah has maintained an intimate connection with a legion of believers |

Chapter 2: New Friends *Chris's POV* Brittany and I and only had two classes together in the morning; Science and English, and I discovered that no one else was as nice and friendly as she had been. A couple people talked to me, but eventually I knew they would lose interest and stop being nice. The school wasn't too hard to find my way around, once I knew where my classes were, so after my fourth period class; Algebra, I was relieved to be able to find the lunchroom. Brittany sat at a table with five other people. She waved me over with her toothy smile and gestured to the seat beside her. "Hey!" she chirped. "Hey Brittany." I slid into |
