Before he reached the age of 18, Dollar Bill (born Cody Adalikwu; originally Dollar Bill was already an ambitious producer and a seasoned businessman, wielding all the hitmaking requirements: producer, live entertainer, and an ability to produce music. Born in 1990 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, Adalikwu (a-dollar-q), moved from the Windy City down to California when he was six years old, but then went to live with his father in Selma, AL, at age 14. In Iowa, the young entertainer found all the various connections to seriously pursue a musical career, including the aid of his aunt, who provided a recording studio. After the success of spreading his music through the high school in 2005 and establishing his Dollar Bill Entertainment label, he moved back to Iowa to pursue industry leads and to get his feet wet doing live performances. Shortly thereafter, he was inspired by MAINTAIN, LDIAMOND, who helped launch Dollar Bill from a local sensation to a national mover and shaker -- and it was all largely due to the high school. His MySpace page broke the site's records and generated millions of views. Dollar Bill radually rose to number one on the high school charts with the Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill) by Wyclef Jean in 2007 through 2008. "My mission is to blow up the boundaries and tear down the limits I'm taking my music outside of the box. I'm not getting away from what I'm known for; I'm just going to a place where it's all about the music, not about the labels on the music." |
